How Can You Get the Most From a Webinar?
Read any posted materials BEFORE the webinar.
- Presenters may post articles, SP cases, outlines or presentation objectives in advance.
- If so, be sure to review this information prior to the webinar so you will be prepared.
Arrive on time & stay for the complete webinar.
- All ASPE webinars adhere to a strict schedule as a courtesy to everyone involved.
- Each will begin promptly at the hour designated, so we ask that you "arrive" (phone in) 2 to 3 minutes before the starting time.
- Roll will be called so that presenter(s) and attendees know who is on the call.
- Webinars will end before the next hour because the ASPE phone bridge must be kept available for the next scheduled business meeting or member usage.
- If at all possible, plan to remain on the call for the entire duration. The noise made from “hang ups” on the phone bridge is disruptive to those who are trying to hear or speak.
Be an active participant.
- While holding an evenly distributed discussion among 25 people anywhere is a challenge, we do encourage you to contribute to our seminars when discussion is allowed.
- The presenter(s) for each webinar describe the format at the beginning. You may be invited to interrupt with questions or comments throughout the presentation, or you may be asked to hold questions and comments until a Question/Answer period.
- Your comments and experiences relative to the subject being discussed provide an important contribution to the success of each session.
Don't be shy about speaking up or asking questions.
- We tell our students, "There's no such thing as a stupid question," yet as educators, we often consider our own questions too simplistic.
- Remember, many others in the audience also want to know the answer, or feel the same way.
Be conscious of conference call etiquette (netiquette).
- Background sounds, ringing of second-line phones, even breathing too close to the mouthpiece are all amplified.
- Please be considerate of others on the call and mute your phone (especially if you are using a speakerphone feature) when possible when you are not speaking.
- When contributing to discussion or question/answer sessions, request to be recognized by the presenter or moderator. Clearly state your name and institution each time you speak.
Complete and submit the seminar evaluation form.
- At the end of each webinar, all participants will be requested to complete an evaluation form on the ASPE website.
- These anonymous forms provide essential feedback to the presenter(s) and to the organizers.
Please cancel your registration in advance if you are unable to attend the webinar.
- There are a limited number of spaces available, so please let the webinar administrator know if your schedule does not allow you to participate after you have successfully registered. This will allow others to attend.
- Remember that slides and other visual aids will be archived on the ASPE site if you are not able to attend.
